Edward MCREYNOLDS was born in 1785 in Caswell Co. NC. He died 6 Sep 1865 Abingdon,Jefferson,Ia in Abingdon, Jefferson, IA. Edward, the son of Joseph and Henrietta was married and had one son when
they migrated to Posey County with his parents in 1832 from Sumner County
Tennessee. They settled on a farm in Posey County. They had four sons that
I know of. They were Joseph, Peter, Robert, and Edmund. Joseph the eldest
was born April 19th, 1807 in Tennessee. He married Elizabeth Blookworth
and they had a farm about 2 miles southwest of Cynthiana. They lived
there their entire life. They were first Methodist, but during the civil
war became dissatisfied with the church for political reasons and joined
the Primative Baptist Church. Most of their descendants still adhere to
that faith. Parents: Joseph MCREYNOLDS and Henrietta BROWNING.

He was married to Sallie ANDERSON in 1804. Children were: Joseph MCREYNOLDS, Peter MCREYNOLDS, Robert MCREYNOLDS, Edmund MCREYNOLDS.

Elizabeth MCREYNOLDS was born in 1717 in Killyman, NR Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, Ireland. Elizabeth married John Rogers and they had four sons
and one daughter. They were Thomas, William, Joseph, James, and
Elizabeth. They settled in Maryland, but after a few years moved
to western Pennsylvania. There their son William and some other
members of the family were killed by Indians.

My aunt Elizabeth McReynolds married John Rogers. They lived a long time in the State of Maryland, from where they removed to the back part of Pennsylvania. They had four sons and one daughter-- Thomas , William,
Joseph, James, and Elizabeth. She married a man by the name of Paul Joseph, who had a majors command, fell in action with the savages in what is now a part of the State of Ohio. William was miserably butchered by the cruel Indian friends. Thomas was living, the last account I had of him, in very affluent circumstances, in Union Town,
Pennsylvania. James the youngest of the family, I heard removed to Kentucky, but to what part I never could learn. My aunt, with her husband, both attained to old age. They were Presbyterians, but whether their life was such as justifies the sincerity of one's profession, I know not. Certain it is that if they did not attain and retain the
power of Godliness in their souls, the form alone could not have procured them a release from the condemnitary sentence of the Devine Law in the awful hours when their souls were required of them . Indeed the merits of Christ could only have done it, received and appreciated by the hand of faith, for we are accepted in the Beloved, and we have redemption in his blood, even the remission of our sins; but this faith is never productive of the fruits of holiness.
