He and his wife of 11 years, Cathie, owned The MAC Group Agency, he was a member of the Advertising Club of Evansville and an Army veteran.

He attended Indiana University and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Evansville.

He was a golfer and member of Rolling Hills Country Club.

Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Lowe of South Bend, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Kelly Harmon of Newburgh; a son, Mark of Newburgh; his mother, Esther McCamment of Washington, Ind.; a sister, Brenda Stradtner of Vincennes; and a niece.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ziemer Funeral Home East chapel, the Rev. Edward Wilkerson officiating, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, with military rites.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

bullet Andrew MCCLAIN Though not provable, it appears that the McClain/McLane family resided first in Rowan County, NC, where the Court Minutes of Rowan show that Andrew died interstate, prior to 5 November, 1772 (Book 3, page 380) and that Sarah, Andrew's widow, declined administration in favor of Henry Sloan and Alexander Dobbins. Andrew McClain's inventory was returned 3 February 1773. Sarah died prior to 5 May 1774 (Book 4, page 23) when Andrew McClean was appointed administer with Francis Luck and Andrew McCollum, securities. The deeds of Rowan show that Robert Mclane, James Mclane, Matthew Woods (intermarried with Rebecca McClane), Joseph Mclane, Andrew Mclane, and probably John Mclane of Loudon County, VA (Deed book 9, pg 13-14) were all heirs to the personal estate of Andrew and Sarah Mclane, who originated in Morris County, East Jersey.

The elder Andrew doesn't appear to have owned any land in Rowan but perhaps he died shortly after arriving in Rowan and before he could acquire any. Andrew Mclane, Jr., and his wife, Elizabeth, however owned tracts on James Cathey's and Giant Creeks (Rowan Deed book 8, pg 57, 279, 358). A Joseph Mclain with widow Rebecca died in about 1775 (Minutes Book 4, pg 82, 211, 215) and Andrew McClain was his administrator. He seems likely to be Robert's brother. It appears that Robert moved east of the others.

Internet source lists children as: James McClain; Andrew McClain, Jr., born about 1734 and died 1821 in York County, SC; Joseph McClain born about 1736 and died after 2 August 1775 in Rowan County, NC; Robert McClain born 1738 and died April 1806 in Knox County, TN; and John McClain born 1738 in Lochbuie, Scotland, and died 4 January 1818 in Butler County, OH.

The last Will and testament of ROBERT McLAIN was produced to court for probate Whereupon JOSEPH WOOD one of the subscribing witnesses thereto made Oath that he saw the said ROBERT McLAIN sign & seal & h d him publish and declare the same to be his last Will and testament and that he was at the time of publishing the same of sound and perfect mind and memory to the best of his knowledge and belief and that he saw William Comsslaind sign his name as a concurring thereto, which Will is ordered to be recorded and is in these words, to wit--
"In the name of God Amen, I ROBERT McLAIN of the county of Knox farmer being in a low state of health but in perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men Once to die - do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say - principally and first of all. I give and recommend my soul unto the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in Decent Christian burial at the Discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate, wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give Devine and dispose of the same in the following manner and form - First I give and bequeath to ANN my dearly beloved wife all my property during her life or widowhood.
